The Museum of Non Participation, Act 00010

Karen Mirza & Brad Butler

2008

Act 00010 is an image-object within the Museum of Non Participation and ASAP – that is emballetic as a thing that gathers. Something here has transpired. A banal event around which people are collecting and assembling. The spilt milk becomes a quasi-subject, instrumental and agent to provoke action and collection. The traditional subject or bystander goes from witness and viewer, to quasi-object, now collected as one thing among others by a photograph of this gathering. The photograph itself thus should not only be considered a representation of an event, but rather an event in itself, which, like the milk it contains, collects and is collected. As such it stands as an emblematic object within ASAP, those things through which we speak and which produce and are produced by our
spatial environment.
